Text of obituary:

MRS. FRANCES YOST

Frances Holdeman Yost was born to Minister Daniel and Helena Koehn Holdeman on Aug. 31, 1891, in McPherson County near Hesston, Kansas. She departed this life on April 16, 1970, at Bethel Deaconess Hospital, Newton, Kan., reaching the age of 78 years, seven months, and 16 days.

Her childhood and youth were spent in her parental home near Hesston. She received her education in the Maple Grove school, and was a resident of this community all of her life.

She answered the call of her Savior in her youth. Repenting, she received peace with God through her Savior Jesus Christ. Upon the confession of her faith she was baptized on Dec. 15, 1909, becoming a member of the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite. She remained true to her vows, meeting the trials of life with courage and determination.

She was married to Alphaeus Yost on Dec. 25, 1911, and they shared joys and sorrows of life for over 58 years. To this union were born four sons and two daughters.

She and her husband were asked to serve in the office of the deaconry by the Meridian congregation, in which office she was a faithful support, taking care of the responsibilities of the home while her husband was away.

She was interested in the kingdom at home and in missions. Her willing hands helped to wrap many Gospel tracts and Bibles which were sent to many parts of the world. She was a loving mother, deeply concerned for her children and grandchildren and often expressing her concern that they would all be faithful to the end. She cared well for her household, also opening her home to the homeless and unfortunate. She also engaged in home and foreign sewing circle activities. She loved life and was interested in nature, taking care of flowers and garden.

She leaves to mourn, her deeply bereaved husband; four sons, Floyd and wife Frieda of Moundridge, Emery and wife Rose of Halstead, Clayton and wife Anita and Lester and wife Molly of Moundridge; two daughters, Elva, Mrs. Herby Wenger and Letha, Mrs. Milferd Wenger, both of Newton; one brother, Joe Holdeman of Halstead; two sisters, Mrs. Eli (Josephine) Johnson of Rich Hill, Mo. and Mrs. Obed (Esther) Johnson of Halstead; 29 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Her parents, four brothers, one sister, and two grandchildren preceded her in death.
