Amish Bishop, Youth Drown in Accident On Ohio River

Sugarcreek, Ohio. — An accident on the Mohican River near Loudonville on Jan. 28 claimed the lives of Milan J. Yoder, 40, a bishop in the Amish church and father of seven children, and Jacob Hershberger of Apple Creek, son of the Eli J. hershbergers.

These two with Danny Hershberger and Joe Gingerich, all employees of Coblentz Bros., were engaged in logging operations along the Mohican and were trying to cross the river by boat when it overturned.

Bishop Yoder leaves his wife, the former Ruth Miller, five daughters and two sons, all of the home on Route 2, Apple Creek. Funeral services were held at the residence on Feb. 1.
