Farmer, Livestock Hauler Killed in Indiana Crash

Goshen, Ind. — An accident on US-20 near Middlebury the afternoon of Jan. 14 claimed the life of Edward P. Yoder, 68, well-known farmer and livestock hauler of Route 1, Middlebury.

Funeral services were held Friday forenoon at the Clinton Brick Mennonite Church, with Rev. John Yoder and Rev. Brian Laverty in charge.

Mr. Yoder was driving west on the federal highway in a pickup truck when he slowed to turn off onto a county road. His truck was struck from the rear by another truck, whose driver said he failed to see Yoder's vehicle in time to avoid the crash. Yoder's truck careened into the corner of a barn at the Marlin E. Chupp farm and was demolished.

Mr. Yoder was born at Garnett, Kan. and lived there until 1950, when he moved to Middlebury. He leaves his widow, the former Gertrude Stutzman, two daughters and a son and their families. Two sisters and a brother live near Hutchinson, Kan. and one sister at Amity, Ore.
