Electrocuted When Ladder Touches Power Line

Greenwich, Ohio. — How dangerous aluminum ladders can be when used around electric power lines became tragically real here in the electrocution of Mrs. Barbara Yoder, 46, as she was picking apples.

The 7,000-volt current from a line 17 feet above ground passed through Mrs. Yoder via the ladder killing her instantly. Also dangerously shocked were Mrs. Yoder's 15-year-old son Perry and daughter-in-law, Mrs. Maryann Yoder. Perry was unconscious for about five minutes. Maryann about 10 minutes.

Funeral services were conducted by Bishop Abe D. Troyer and Pre. Dan Gingerich. Mrs. Yoder is survived by her husband Harley, eight sons, five daughters and a number of grandchildren.
