Prominent Archbold Businessman Dies

Archbold, Ohio. — Funeral services for Timothy T. Yoder, 54, prominent in the business life of this community, were held Oct. 3 at the Zion Mennonite Church here. Rev. Ellis Croyle and Rev. P. L. Frey officiated.

Mr. Yoder died Sept. 30 at Detweiler Hospital after being a patient there six days. He was a partner in Yoder & Frey, Inc., used implement auction near here which is one of the largest operations of its kind in the nation. He was also vice-president and a partner in Yoder Compost, Inc., a partner in Yoder & Frey Auctioneers, Inc., selling heavy equipment; and vice-president of American Diversified Holding Corp., Columbus.

TIMOTHY T. YODER

Timothy T. Yoder was born in Garden City, Mo. on Sept. 25, 1918, the son of Ervia and Fannie Neuenschwander Yoder. He died at Detwiler Memorial Hospital, Wauseon, Ohio, on Sept. 30, 1972 where he had been a patient for six days. He reached the age of 54.

In his youth he received Christian baptism and became a member of the Mennonite Church in Archbold, Ohio where he faithfully attended the services and served at various times as a Sunday school teacher, Finance Committee member and chairman, trustee and usher.

On May 14, 1940 he married Lucille Eicher at Raton, New Mexico and she survives him. He is also survived by his step-father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. John O. Kiser of Hesston, Kan. and the following children: Mrs. Duane (Peggy) Frey of Fort Wayne, Ind., Timothy Thomas and Max Eugene, both of Archbold, Mary (Mrs. Robert Birkey) of Clovis, Calif., Emma Jean (Mrs. Stanley Wyse) of Atlanta, Georgia, and Barbara Sue, Linda Lou and Joyce Lee at home. In addition he is survived by two sisters, Ruby (Mrs. Carl Showalter) of Greeley, Colo. and Helen (Mrs. Glen Widmer) of Wayland, Iowa. Five grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by his father.

Following graduation from high school at Cheraw, Colo. in 1935 his occupational experience included service as a fireman on the Santa Fe Railroad out of Denver, Colo. and his partnership in Yoder and Frey, Inc. a farm machinery auction at Archbold, beginning in 1947. In addition he was a partner and vice-president of Yoder Compost, Inc. of Archbold, a partner in Yoder and Frey Auctioneers, Inc. of Archbold, associated with Pavos, Inc. of San Salvador, Central America, and vice-president and director of Diversified Holding Corporation of Columbus, Ohio.

He was active in the Archbold Rotary Club, of which he was a charter member, and also a member of the Archbold Community Commercial Club.

During World War II, in lieu of military service, he served in Civilian Public Service for 14 months, having worked in soil conservation at Downey, Idaho, and later at Cleveland State Hospital, Ohio.

Funeral services were held on Oct. 3, 1972 at Zion Mennonite Church with Ellis Croyle and P. L. Frey in charge. Interment was made in Pettisville Cemetery.
