MISSIONARIES' MOTHER DIES

Hesston, Kan. — Funeral services were held at the West Liberty Mennonite church near Windom Nov. 10 for Mrs. Susie C. Yoder, long-time member of that congregation.

In recent weeks Mrs. Yoder had resided on the Hesston College campus with her daughter, Miss Phebe Yoder, missionary on furlough from Africa. She died Nov. 7 at the Mercy hospital, Moundridge.

MRS. C. D. YODER

Susie Catherine Yoder, daughter of Reuben J. and Margaret Kilmer Heatwole, was born in Harvey county, Kansas, on August 27, 1880. She was a pioneer of Kansas and resided in the Windom and West Liberty communities for sixty years.

She was converted at the age of 12 years and united with the Mennonite church. Mother was an active and faithful member all her life.

On August 27, 1899, she was united in marriage to Charles D. Yoder. Our Christian home was broken by father’s passing in September of 1923.

She loved her Saviour and Lord and her life was unselfishly devoted to Him. She was very zealous for her church and faithfully attended every service when at all possible. Untiringly and devotedly she labored for her family. Her daily Christian living was an influence for good to her family and to her host of friends and neighbors.

Mother entered her eternal rest on Nov. 7, 1959, after a short illness at the Mercy hospital, Moundridge, Kansas, reaching the age of 79 years. She is survived by her five sons and five daughters: Lawrence J. and Orpha Yoder, McPherson, an.; Phebe Yoder, Tanganyika, Africa; Ada and Billie Miller, Protection, Kansas; Tillman and Gladys Yoder, Pryor, Okla.; Willis and Florence Yoder, Albert, Can.; Leah and Phares Loucks, Windom; Emerson and Anita Yoder, Denton, Kansas; Vera and Edwin Schrag, Moundridge, Kan.; Rollin and Edna Yoder, Hesston, Kansas; Ruth and Emerson Miller, Orrville. Ohio.

Also surviving are 29 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, other relatives and her many friends Her five sisters, an only brother and two grandchildren preceded her in death. — The Family.
