Berne, Ind., Dec. 6 — Peter Yoder, 65, lifelong resident of this community, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Wm. Amstutz, on North Behring St., 7.55 Tuesday evening. Death was due to pneumonia which followed a heart attack on Thanksgiving and a stroke of paralysis on Sunday.
For the last three years he has been making his home with his daughter, Mrs. Albert Steiner, near Linn Grove. A few days before Thanksgiving he had come to visit with Mrs. Amstutz and was stricken on the day he intended to return to Linn Grove.
Mr. Yoder was born Oct. 26, 1863, the son of Joseph and Catherine Yoder, of near Berne. He has been a farmer all his life.
As a young man he was married to Fannie Moser. Five children were born to this union, all of whom survive. They are: Mrs. Wm. Amstutz and Henry Yoder, both of Berne, Mrs. Albert Steiner, Levi and Elmer, all of Linn Grove. Mrs. Yoder died seven years ago.
A brother, Chris Yoder, of Berne, and Mrs. John Bixler, a sister, also survive.
Six brothers and sisters preceded him in death. They are Jacob, John, Catherine, Christian, Mrs. Joseph Moser and a child which died in infancy.
Four grandchildren also survive. They are Luella and Lorine Steiner and Maxine and Doris Yoder.
Funeral services have been arranged for Friday afternoon at one o'clock from the Albert Steiner home and at one-thirty from the Defenseless Mennonite church of which he was a member. Rev. Emanuel Becker and Rev. A. M. Clauser will have charge. Interment in M. R. E. Cemetery. — Berne Review.
