MRS. MARY YODER

Mary Yoder, daughter of Moses and Elizabeth (Hochstetler) Borntreger, was born at Wildhorse, Colo. on March 16, 1912, and died April 19, 1959, age 47 years, one month and three days.

She was united in holy matrimony to William P. Yoder on June 27, 1933, at Hadley, Penna., and lived in matrimony 25years, nine months and 23 days.

She was preceded in death by a son, William Edward, who died Aug. 11, 1957. Left to mourn her early departure are her devoted husband; one son, John, and two daughters, Mary and Susie; her maternal grandmother, Mrs. Emma Hochstetler; her parents; six brothers, Adam of Burton, Ohio, Eli of Wittmer, Pa., Cristen [sic Christian] of Coldwater, Mich., Melvin of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, Joseph of Ashtabula, Ohio, and William of Huntsburg, Ohio; and five sisters, Katie, Mrs. William Scheckler of Meadville, Pa., Susie, Mrs. John H. Yoder of Burton, Ohio, Lydia, Mrs. Samuel Kline of Meadville, Pa., Clara, Mrs. Morton Bissell of Cochranton, Pa., and Miss Gertrude Borntreger of Alliance, Ohio. Two sisters preceded her in death.

Sister Mary with her husband and one daughter and an aunt, Mrs. Erwin Schrock, were on their way to church services and slowed down for a railroad crossing. When they got on the track Bro. Yoder noticed the train coming, and when he tried to accelerate the car into higher speed it stalled. After one attempt to start the car without results, they quickly abandoned it but Mary, being the last to get out, did not get out of the way and was instantly hurled into eternity.

She was a member of the First Mennonite Church of Meadville, Pa. We do not weep as those who have no hope, for we have the assurance that she was ready to meet her Savior.

Funeral services were conducted by Herman F. Myers in English and Bro. Wittmer of Stark County, Ohio, of the Beachy church, in German. the opening Scripture was read by Raymond Kramer of Canada and formerly of Meadville. Interment was made at the Beachy church cemetery. — Mrs John H. Yoder.
