MRS. LENA YODER
Lena (Bender) Yoder, wife of Ernest Yoder and daughter of Christian and Ida (Hershberger) Bender, was born near Salisbury, Penn. Feb. 5, 1904, and died in the Meyersdale, Penn., community Hospital Nov. 3, 1955, at the age of 51 years, eight months and 28 days.
She was married to Ernest Yoder June 3, 1928. To this union were born three sons and five daughters: Richard Bruce, David Harvey, Miriam Irene, Omar Christian, Ida Idella, Eleanor Amanda, Freda Elizabeth, and Delilah Rosanna. They now range in age from 26 to seven years.
She is survived by her husband and children, her father, Christian Bender, and the following brothers and sisters: Floyd and Omar, Meyersdale; Myra, wife of Omar Maust, Salisbury; Harvey, Bittinger, Maryland; Verda, wife of Simon D. Beachy, Salisbury; Della, wife of Ivan J. Miller; Fannie, wife of Floyd J. Miller, Grantsville, Md.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Ida (Hershberger) Bender, on Feb.6, 1945, and by her brother, Lewis Bender, on Aug. 25, 1931.
She became very ill on Sept. 28, but the seriousness of her condition was not known by the family or her physician. After her death an autopsy was performed which revealed the cause of her illness to have been a cyst which brought on a brain hemorrhage.
She was baptized and received as a member of the Conservative Mennonite church, upon confession of her faith in Christ as her Savior, Sept. 30, 1917, in which fellowship she died.
Funeral services were conducted at the Maple Glen meeting house near Grantsville, Md. Nov. l5 by Mark Peachy, Sam Peachy and Walter Otto. Interment was made in the Oak Dale cemetery near Salisbury.
