89-Year-Old Minister Dies Christmas Day
Wellman, Ia. — Memorial services for Rev. John Miller Yoder, 89, were held at the West Union Mennonite Church on Dec. 27 at 10 a.m.
Rev. Yoder, who was a former minister of the Parnell Mennonite Church, died Christmas day at the home of his son at North English.
The memorial services were conducted by Rev. Herman Ropp and Rev. Emery Hochstetler.
Rev. Yoder was a graduate of Goshen College. Ordained in 1914, he served several churches in Michigan and Missouri before accepting the call to Parnell.
Survivors include five sons, Paul E. M. Yoder, North English, Jonas S. Yoder, Hillsdale, Mich., Daniel M. Yoder, Wellman, Jesse L. Yoder, Bayport, Mich., and Vernon Yoder, Memphis, Mo.; two daughters, Mary, Mrs. David Hathaway, Philadelphia, Mo. and Barbara, Mrs. Marron [sic Aaron] Nice, Morrison, Ill.; 23 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, one sister and one half-sister.
Rev. Yoder was preceded in death by his wife, two sisters and a brother.
