College Senior Killed In Motorcycle Crash
Harrisonburg, Va. — A traffic accident in the Park view community here March 18 claimed the life of Gordon Gene Yoder, 21, a senior at Eastern Mennonite College from Wellman, Iowa.
The young man was riding a motorcycle when it struck the front fender of a car which was turning into the parking lot of Martins, Inc. The motorcycle was thrown into the rear of a car owned by James Goering of Dayton. The Yoder youth was dead on arrival at Rockingham Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Ida Goering was preparing to enter her auto and was grazed by the motorcycle, but escaped injury.
A memorial service was held at the college Tuesday morning, after which the body was sent to Kalona, Iowa for funeral services and burial on Thursday at the Lower Deer Creek Mennonite Church.
The youth is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Max Yoder, two sisters and two brothers, all of Wellman, and the grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Marion Yoder of Wellman and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Beckler of Milford, Neb.
