GEORGE YODER
George, a son of the late Peter M. and Magdalene (Gingerich) Yoder, was born in Johnson County, Iowa, June 22, 1886; died near Timberville, Virginia jan.23, 1956, age 60 years, seven months and one day.
He moved to Midland, Mich. in 1930, where he resided until December 1951 when he moved to Timberville.
On Nov. 5, 1908, he was married to Catherine Miller, who preceded him in death, March 4, 1927. On Oct. 12, 1929, he was married to Myrtle F. Yoder, who survives him with five children, Emma, Mrs. Jacob Slabaugh of Goshen, Ind., Edgar J. Yoder of Freeland, Mich., Myrtle, Mrs. Norman Phillips of Albany, Calif., Margaret, Mrs. W. Neil Turner, and Vada, Mrs. Mrs. Paul Turner of Broadway, Va.; 14 grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Joel Miller of Kalona, Iowa and Mrs. Joe d. Yoder of Wellman, Iowa; and one brother, Mose P. Yoder of Kalona, Iowa. Three sons, three sisters and three brothers preceded him in death.
He was a devoted husband and father and a good neighbor. A devout Christian, he was a lifelong member of the Mennonite church. He was a trustee of the Midland Mennonite Church for a number of years and since coming to Virginia had been a faithful member of Trissels Mennonite Church.
Funeral services, held on Jan. 26, were conducted at the house by Norman Derstine and at Trissels Mennonite Church by J. L. Stauffer and Timothy Showalter. Burial was made in the adjacent cemetery, Samuel A. Shank officiating.
