MRS. NOAH YODER
Emma Showalter Yoder, daughter of George and Amelia Nice Showalter, was born Sept. 10, 1893 at Roseland, Neb. She passed from this life on Aug. 4, 1961 at the Mercy hospital in Iowa City, Iowa at the age of 67 years, 10 months, and 24 days.
She accepted Christ as her Savior in her youth and was baptized as a member of the Roseland Mennonite Church at Roseland, Neb. From Roseland she transferred her membership to the West Union Mennonite church near Parnell, Iowa where she was a member at the time of her death.
She was married to Noah Yoder at Roseland, Neb. on Dec. 16, 1915. They moved to Iowa soon after their marriage and several years later moved to the farm north of Wellman where they have resided since.
Two children were born to this home, George of Leawood, Kan.; Florence, Mrs. Myron Rensberger of Keota, Iowa.
She is survived by her husband, son and daughter, daughter-in-law, son-in-law, two grandchildren, Betty and Dwight Yoder, one adopted grandson, James Rensberger, and three foster grandchildren., Wilmeta, Cheryl, and Louis. She is also survived by 18 nieces and nephews, and the following brothers and sisters, Fannie, Mrs. Erlis Kinsinger of Wellman; will of Omaha, Neb., George of Anselmo,Neb., Ammon of Pomona, Calif., Mary, Mrs. Clifford Roberts of Oxford; Alice, Mrs. Will Ehrman, and Ada, Mrs. Isaac Grabill of Roseland, Neb. her youngest brother, Harry, passed away on Nov. 5, 1960, and one brother died in infancy.
Her death was caused by acute attack of appendicitis and other complications. She passed away following surgery. Emma had a large circle of friends whose visits she enjoyed during these long months just past. Her friends were her life, and they made her last years of physical suffering easier.
Funeral services were held Aug. 7 at the West Union Mennonite Church, Herman E. Ropp and Paul T. Guengerich in charge. Burial was in the church cemetery.
