Iowa Businessman Killed When Plane Crashes near Wellman
Wellman, Ia. — Funeral services for Delmar K. Yoder, 44, who was killed in the crash of the light plane on Nov. 9, were held at the West Union Mennonite Church here on Nov 11. Rev. J. John J. Miller and Rev. Emery Hochstetler were in charge of the services.
Yoder, owner and operator of the Home Gas, Inc. of Wellman and Kalona, crashed just south of the landing strip shortly after take-off from the Wellman airport at about 6 a.m. There were no witnesses to the accident, but low clouds are believed to have caused Yoder to lose control of his plane.
Survivors include his widow, the former Ada Mae Swartzendruber of Hydro, Okla.; three daughters, Mrs. Ernie (Roberta) Kandel of Coralville, Suzanne Yoder of Washington and Karla Yoder of Burlington; one son, Kevin, at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Kores Yoder of Wellman; one sister, Anna Mary Yoder of Honduras; and two brothers, Marvin K. and Wilmer, both of Wellman.
