text of obituary:
SIX-YEAR-OLD BOY ACCIDENTALLY SHOT AT BELLEVILLE, PA.
Belleville, Pa. — David Ivan Yoder, six year old son of Jess L. and Fannie B. Yoder, suffered a fatal gunshot wound at the Yoder farm the afternoon of Jan. 17 and passed away some hours later at the Lewis town hospital.
The accidental shooting occurred as an older brother, Sylvanus Urie, 15, was engaged in shooting sparrows with a .22 calibre rifle. He suddenly noticed a rat by the chicken coop and shot at it just as the younger brother came around the corner of the building. The bullet evidently ricocheted off the ground, striking David in the head.
A large congregation attended the funeral services on Saturday at the Yonie [?] Peachey home, conducted by Daniel King and Jess Spicher.
The parents and 11 brothers and sisters survive.
