WEST LIBERTY, OHIO RESIDENT PASSED AWAY IN FLORIDA

West liberty, Ohio. — Daniel H. Yoder, 74, retired farmer and former business man of this community, died at Gainesville, Florida on April 16 as he and Mrs. Yoder were en route home from the winter's stay at Sarasota.

Funeral services were held at the Union Mennonite church here on April 21, with messages by Wm. G. Detweiler and Wallace Kauffman.

Mr. Yoder, a lifelong resident of the community, operated a grain elevator here until it was destroyed by fire. He is survived by his wife, the former Emma D. Hilty, and one daughter, Mrs. Margaret Arline Yoder of Barberton.

DANIEL H. YODER

“It shall come to pass, that at evening time it shall be light" Man’s life is as a day, and when lived in the will of God, is not enshrouded with darkness at its close, but is lighted by the glory of eternal day. The morning of everlasting light dawned for Daniel H. Yoder when his earth life ended on April 16.

Daniel was born the son of Daniel C. and Nancy Z. Hartzler Yoder on Sept 28, 1874, in Liberty township near West Liberty, Ohio. He lived to the age of 74 years. In his youth he recognized eternal values and realizing his soul’s need, accepted Christ as his Saviour. God and his Word being realities in his life’s experience, he remained faithful in the fellowship of the South Union Mennonite church.

On Feb. 10, 1903, he was united in marriage to Emma D. Hilty, who survives him. Remaining also are one daughter, Arlene (Mrs. Dale Yoder), of Barberton, Ohio; two granddaughters, Janet Darlene and Celia Joan; a brother, Lee H., of West Liberty; a sister, Fanny (Mrs. Paul Whitmer), Bluffton; and nephews and nieces.

Three brothers and two sisters preceded him in death; Ezra, David B, Christian, Lydia and Rebecca.

He lived in and near West Liberty all his life except a number of winters which he and his wife spent in Florida. It was on their return home, while visiting friends at Gainesville, Fla., that he became ill and died early in the morning, the day before Easter

Funeral services were held Thursday, April 21, at 2 p. m., at the South Union Mennonite church. In charge of the rites were Rev. William Detweiler, of Smithville, Rev. S. E. Allgyer, Rev. Noah E. Troyer and Rev. Wallace Kauffman.

Musical selections were offered by Mr. and Mrs. Gail Yoder and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Yoder.

Burial was made in the Yoder cemetery on the Ludlow road.

Serving as pallbearers were Clarence Yoder, Paul P. King, Albert Strickrott, La Verne Atha, Chalmer Yoder and Floyd King.
