Ohio Youth Killed In Fall From Silo

NARROW ESCAPE FOR TWO OTHER WORKERS WHEN SECTION COLLAPSES

Archbold, Ohio. — An18-year-old Wauseon youth was killed and two other workers narrowly escaped injury or death Sept. 15 when a two-foot section of a cement silo they were constructing collapsed at the 28-foot level.

Funeral services for Charles Jay Yoder, son of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Yoder, were held Sept. 18 at the West Clinton Mennonite Church, in charge of Raymond Richer and E. B. Frey.

One of the other workers, Dale Miller of Pettisville, jumped the 30 feet to the ground and apparently escaped injury. Denver Nofziger of Wauseon hung onto the side of the silo and was able to climb to safety. The Yoder youth was thrown to the ground with a platform on which he was standing, and a metal bar pierced his body.

Surviving in addition to the parents are one sister, Mrs. Marlin Rupp, and two brothers, Robert and LaMar at home.
