BARBARA S. YODER
Barbara S. Yoder, daughter of Joseph C. and Magdalena Yoder, was born in LaGrange county, Indiana, August 20, 1852, and died July 24, 1946, age 93 years, 11 months and four days.
She accepted her Saviour and united with the Amish Mennonite church in her youth and continued a faithful member throughout her long life.
She was married to Samuel K. Yoder July 13, 1873. To this union were born ten children of whom four survive: Delos F. Yoder of Harper, Kansas; Amanda (Mrs. Levi Kropf) of Tampico, Illinois; Ed T. Yoder of Newton, Kansas; and Ida (Mrs. Joe Gerber) of Harper, Kansas; also 32 grandchildren and 44 great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
Until 1890 father and mother resided in what was known as the Pretty Prairie neighborhood in LaGrange county Indiana, at which time they moved to Cass county, Mo., where they resided 25 years.
Father died May 20, 1914, after which mother made her home with her children a few years, then built a home in Hesston, Kansas, where she lived happily for 18 years. In her declining years she spent two years with a niece and nephew, Mary and Dave Hershberger, in Cass county, Mo. The last four years she lived with her daughter Ida and was lovingly cared for until she was called home.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 27, at the Pleasant Valley church near Harper, Kansas, with Rev. R. M. Weaver officiating.
