MRS. KATIE WOOD

Katie Wood was born in South Russia on Feb. 20, 1873, to Abraham and Katie (Conrad) Dick. She passed on to her heavenly reward on March 23, 1954, at 8:00 in the evening at the Grace hospital in Hutchinson, Kansas. She reached the age of 81 years, one month and three days.

On June 11, 1916, she was baptied [sic] upon the confession of her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ by Rev. H. P. Krehbiel, thus becoming a member of the Burrton Mennonite church, of which she remained a member until her passing.

On Oct. 20, 1893, she was united in marriage to Henry Warkentin, who preceded her in death on May 31, 1927. To this union were born two daughters and one son, all of whom are still living: Mrs. Katie Siemens, Burrton; Mrs. Anna Franz, Liberal, Kansas; and John Warkentin, Burrton.

On Aug. 31, 1930, she was united in marriage to Walter Wood, who died April 17, 1939.

Burrton and the Burrton community have been her home since 1881.

Besides her children she leaves to mourn her passing two sons-in-law, and one daughter-in-law; two sisters: Mrs. Anna Gerbrand, Buhler, and Mrs. Mary Draser, of Los Angeles, Calif.; nine grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren, and a large host of other relatives and many friends.

The funeral was held in the Christian church of Burrton on March 26, with Rev. Abe H. Peters of the Mennonite church officiating. Interment was in the Burrton cemetery.
