JACOB J. WOLLMANN

Jacob J. Wollmann, son of Jacob M. and Susanna (Glanzer) Wollmann, was born March 10, 1893 at Freeman, S. D., where he spent most of his days.

He was baptized upon the confession of his faith by Rev. Christ. Hege in 1915 into the Bethany Mennonite Church, where the last rites were held Jan. 25, in charge of Rev. Levi Koehn. He attained the age of 78.

He was one of six children, two boys and four girls. The mother was taken from them by death in 1909.

His education consisted of the grades and intermediate at Freeman College, continuing school at Mitchell and Yankton College.

He served in the American Armed Forces during World War I. In 1914 he began working in the Merchants State Bank with his father during the summers between his terms at college. He followed in his father's footsteps as bank president and continued at that for 25 years. After a total of 55 years in banking, he retired in 1969.

On Saturday morning, Jan. 22, he lay down for an early nap and quietly slept away.

Surviving him are his sister Anna, Mrs. A. W. Gross, of the Salem Home; his brother, Dr. Michael J. Wollmann, also of Freeman; one nephew, Clifford Gross of Ellicott City, Md.; four nieces, Lucylle Gross Billam of Rapid City, Thelma Alford of Hopedale, Ill., Marilyn Scanlan of Taipei, Taiwan, and Theda Wollmann of Bloomington, ill.
