MRS. JUSTINA WOHLGEMUTH

Justina Loewen Wohlgemuth was born Aug. 31, 1873, at Margenau, Russia, the daughter of Peter P. and Anna (Wiebe) Loewen. She came to the U. S. A. with her parents on July 11, 1876, landing at Peabody, Kan. They made their home on a farm in the Hope Valley District near Hillsboro, Kan.

Here she grew up and accepted the Lord Jesus as her personal Savior. She was baptized and accepted into the Gnadenau Krimmer Mennonite Brethren church in her early youth.

She was united in marriage to Cornelius B. Wohlgemuth, former husband of her sister, Elizabeth Loewen, who passed away in 1908. Thus she became the mother of Cornelius and Nathaniel Wohlgemuth.

She came as a bride to Canada on March 31, 1909. Here our parents lived on a farm in the Furnhill District. They were members of the Mennonite Brethren Church there.

The marriage was blessed with three more children: Jacob, now residing at Coaldale, Alberta; Eva, Mrs. Wm. Klassen of Herbert, Sask.; and Anna, Mrs. Peter Friesen of Abbotsford, B. C.

In the fall of 1941 our parents retired from the farm and moved to British Columbia, where they were members of the Mennonite Brethren Church. On July 31, 1950, our father went on to his eternal rest.

Soon after this mother came back to Herbert, Sask. where she resided with her children, William Klassens, later living in the town of Herbert.

On Good Friday, April 4, 1958, she fell and was injured. She was taken to the Herbert Union Hospital. An operation was necessary which was successful, but due to her age and a heart condition from which she had suffered for many years, bronchial pneumonia set in. After two days of suffering she quietly passed on to be with the Lord on April 11 at 6:00 o'clock in the morning. Her daughter Eva was with her at the time. Some of her last words were from a precious sold song, "Dort mitt den seligen droben werd ich Ihn ewiglich loben."

Her age was 84 years, seven months and eleven days. Besides her children she leaves to mourn her departure 43 grandchildren and 47 great-grandchildren. Two great-grandchildren and one grandson preceded her in death. She also leaves her youngest sister, Mrs. Agnes Schmidt of Dalmeny, Sask.
