Heinrich A. Woelk, son of Abraham and Justina Friesen Woelk, was born in South Russia on Nov. 24, 1874. In Feb. 1893, he with his parents left Russia to establish a new home near Goessel, Kan.

He was married May 20, 1897, to Katharina Schmidt, who died in 1914. On Nov. 3, 1915 he married Anna Unruh, who preceded him in death in 1921. On Nov. 11, 1925 he married Lizzie Heidebrecht, who survives. Other survivors are four sons, Henry J. of Wichita, Kan., Alvin S. of Lamar, Colo., Arthur J. of Rt. 2, Hillsboro, Kan., Eldon P. of Rt. 2, Newton, Kan.; two daughters, (Anna) Mrs. Walter B. Entz of Rt. 5, Newton, Kan., and (Hilda) Mrs. Herman Voth of Buhler, Kan.; one brother, J. A. Woelk of Winslow, Ariz.; one sister, Mrs. B. A. Friesen of Rosthern, Sask.; 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Three children preceded him in death, Ernest, age 3; Sara, age 3; and Marie, age 36, and her husband, Charles Hepler.

Upon confession of his faith he was baptized and united with the Alexanderwohl church in 1894. In 1920, when the Goessel Mennonite church was organized, he became a charter member and remained an active and faithful member to the end.

On Aug. 9 at 6:30 p. m. his very eventful and fruitful life of nearly 86 years came to a abrupt end and he passed on to his eternal home.

Funeral services were held at the Goessel Mennonite church in Goessel, Kan. on Aug. 12, with Rev. Leo Miller officiating.
