Mother of Goshen Professor Dies

Goshen, Ind. — Funeral services for Mrs. Minnie A. Winey, 79, mother of Miss Lois Winey of the Goshen College faculty, were held July 27 at the Yoder-Culp Funeral home here. She died at the home on July 24 after an illness of several years.

A native of Garden City, Mo., Mrs. Winey was the widow of Samuel G. Winey, who died in 1960. They lived at Colorado Springs, Colo. for a number of years before moving to Goshen in 1942. Mr. Winey served on the college staff here for some yeas before his death.

MRS. MINNEI A. WINEY

Mrs. Minnie Alice (Good) Winey, daughter of Joel and Susannah (Huber) Good, was born at Garden City, Mo. on Aug. 23, 1884, and passed away at her home in Goshen, Ind. on July 24, 1964, aged 79 years, 11 months.

When she was a small child her parents moved to Peabody, Kan. where she lived until several years after marriage. On Jan. 26, 1995 she was married to Samuel G. Winey. In 1908 they moved to La Junta, Colo. where they lived until 1923. For the following 18 years they lived in Colorado Springs, Colo. In 1942 they moved to Goshen, Ind. to retire and be with their daughter Lois of Goshen College.

Her husband S. G. Winey died April 3, 1960. She is survived by her daughters, Lois Winey of Goshen and Mrs. Mabel (Paul) Drinnon of Denver, Colo.; seven grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. She was the last survivor of a family of seven children.

She was a member of the College Mennonite Church and services were conducted by the pastor, John H. Mosemann, A. E. Kreider and J. Kore Zook. Burial was made in Violett Cemetery.
