AGNES WILLIAMS

Agnes Williams was born on April 30, 1887, on a farm near Buhler, Kansas, and died on April 10, 1946, at her home in Buhler. She was the daughter of the late Abraham J. and Marie Siemens Williams.

She received her education at the Lakeside school. On June 4, 1906, she was baptized upon the confession of her faith by Elder Abraham Ratzlaff and received as a member of the Hoffnungsau church. Later, when the Buhler Mennonite church was organized she joined this church and remained a faithful member until her death. She especially enjoyed the work of the mission society and took an active part. She had the assurance of salvation and lived a humble Christian life.

She lovingly cared for our parents in their later years and when they passed away she was very lonely. However, she was always concerned about all members of her family. She took the initiative in promoting our family reunions. When six of her nephews were inducted into the service, five of whom went overseas, she was deeply concerned and we are sure that her prayers availed much. All loved Aunt Agnes deeply and she will be greatly missed. However, we are reconciled because we know that she went home to her Saviour.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her eldest sister and a twin sister. Of the immediate family she leaves one brother and six sisters: A. A. Williams, Woodland, Wash.; Mrs. Anna Johnson, Escondido, Calif.; Mrs. Justina Neufeld, Wasco, Calif.; Mrs. Lena Dick, Hutchinson; Mrs. Elizabeth Diener, Pretty Prairie, Mrs. Marie Buller and Mrs. Eva Sawatzky of Buhler.

A blessed hope is in salvation
When loved ones leave us and die,
A reunited whole relation
If we in faith on Christ rely.
By grace of God there is in store
A day when families part no more.
