— Jacob H. Willems of Conway was killed in a car-truck crash Monday evening eight miles northwest of Inman. Funeral services were announced for Thursday 9:30 a.m., at the Zoar Mennonite Church, with Rev. Arnold Ensz officiating. Details of the accident have not been learned.

Two Killed in Crash Near Inman, Kansas

FUNERAL SERVICES FOR JACOB H. WILLEMS HELD AT ZOAR K. M. N. CHURCH

Inman, Kansas. — Funeral services for Jacob H. Willems, 62, well-known Conway area farmer who was one of two victims of a car-truck crash near here, were held Thursday forenoon, July 30, at the Zoar K. M. B. church. Rev. Arnold Ensz, the pastor, officiated.

Mr. Willems was traveling south in his pickup truck Monday evening when he collided with a car at the West Liberty Mennonite church crossing about seven miles northwest of Inman. The driver of the car, Harold E. Weaver, 56, of Lyons, was also killed.

A native of the Buhler community, Mr. Willems had lived on a farm near Conway for 36 years. He had been a member of the Zoar church since 1918.

Survivors include the widow, Elizabeth, and son Robert of the home, two other sons, one daughter, five brothers and two sisters.

JACOB H. WILLEMS

Jacob H. Willems, the first son of Henry D. and Elizabeth Klaassen Willems, was born May 10, 1897 on a farm near Buhler, Kan.

He departed this life on July 27 when he was involved in an automobile accident near his home while returning from work. He reached the age of 62 years, two months and 17 days.

He received his elementary education in the West Eagle school and later attended the Zoar Bible academy. He accepted Christ as his personal Saviour during a revival campaign conducted by Rev. G. P. Schultze. He was baptized April 14, 1918 and was received into the fellowship of the Zoar church, where he remained a faithful member. He loved his church, was regular in attendance and served for a number of years as a Sunday school teacher.

On March 16, 1919, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Epp. Four children were born to this union. He was a devoted father and grandfather.

His pleasant personality gained him many friends in the community. He enjoyed good health and worked hard at his occupation, farming. He had a great appreciation for the beauty in nature and especially enjoyed time spent in the mountains. He spent many early morning hours in mediation and fellowship in God's great outdoors.

Those who mourn his passing are his wife, one daughter, Elizabeth Ann and her husband Bennie Peters or Greensburg; three sons, Alvin and his wife Ruthe of McPherson; James and his wife Deloris of Moundridge, and Robert of the home; his mother, Mrs. H. D. Willems; six brothers two sisters, six sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law and many other relatives and friends.
