NICKOLAI WIENS

Nickolai Wiens of Leamington, Ont. passed away on July 12. He was born to Nickolai and Marie Wiens in Wiesenfeld, southern Russia on December 20, 1898. At the age of 23, he accepted the Lord as his personal Saviour and was baptized into the Mennonite Brethren Church. He married Anna Reimer on October 8, 1923, and in 1925 they came to Canada, settling first in Saskatchewan, then Manitoba, and finally in Ontario. Through out his life he enjoyed music, and passed a love for it on to his children. He did a lot of singing during his illness.

He is survived by his wife, Anna; by five sons and their wives: Nick and Irene, Jake and Louise, John and Gertrude, all of Leamington, Harry and Eva of Wheatley, Ont., and Harold and Diana of Edmonton; three daughters and husbands: Nettie and Abe Dyck of Camden, Ont., Irene and Fred Morley of Leamington, and Anne and Harvey Neufeld of Cookville, Tennessee; 24 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother and two sisters. The funeral was held July 14 in the Leamington MB Church, with Arthur Willms and David Derksen in charge.
