• A long-time Inman resident, Mrs. Henry W. Wiens, 70, died Tuesday morning at Mercy Hospital in Moundridge. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 3 p.m. in the Bethel Mennonite Church near Inman with Rev. P. A. Wedel and Mrs. P. T. Neufeld officiating. Mrs. Wiens leaves nine children, of whom Anna Grace Wiens, Nick and Leonard Wiens are residents of the Newton area.

Anna (Enns) Wiens was born to Johann and Eva (Pauls) Enns on Oct. 9, 1891 southeast of Inman, Kansas. She passed away Oct. 2, 1962 at the Moundridge Hospital at the age of 70 years.

Mother grew up on her parents' farm southeast of Inman and spent a happy childhood together with her seven brothers and one sister. She received seven years of formal education at Lake Valley School southeast of Inman. While at school she became an apt story teller.

Mother received catechism instruction and was baptized upon her confession of faith in Jesus Christ as her Saviour on June 9, 1907, by Elder Isaac Peters of Henderson, Neb. and was received into the E. M. B. Church. In 1912, together with her parents, she transferred her membership to the Bethel Church, Inman, where she remained a faithful and active member until her death.

She was united in holy matrimony to Henry W. Wiens on Oct. 17, 1913 by Rev. Klaas Kroeker. They shared joys and sorrows for a period of thirty years. Most of their married life was spent on the farm six miles southeast of Inman. In 1943 they purchased a small farm west of Inman. Five months later father passed away. In 1946 the home was sold and mother spent the remainder of her life in Inman.

We will remember our mother for her warm, genuine interest and concern in each one of her children and grandchildren. This same spirit was shown to every one with whom she came in contact. Her commitment to her Lord was evidenced by her enthusiasm for the church, always desiring to attend and participate in those church activities in which she could help bring Christ to others.

On Sept. 24 mother entered the hospital. She submitted to surgery Sept. 27. Doctors discovered a cancerous tumor which caused her illness anu [''sic''] death.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one sister, three brothers, two daughters and two sons who died in infancy.

Surviving are five daughters and four sons, Elva and husband Ruben Wedel of Pharr, Texas, Nick and wife Evelyn of Newton, Leonard and wife Florence of Newton, Simon and wife Sally of Inman, Adolf and wife Lydia of Medora, Esther and husband Walter Juhnke of Topeka, Mary and husband William Goosen [''sic'' Goossen] of Beatrice, Neb., Rosella and husband Harold Regier of Gulfport, Miss., and Anna Grace of Newton; 20 grandchildren; five brothers, George of Buhler, Jacob, Henry, and Frank of Inman, and Abe of Meade; one sister, Mrs. Eva Fehdrau of inman.

The funeral services were conducted in the Bethel Church at Inman on Oct. 5, Rev. Philip A. Wedel officiating assisted by Rev. P. K. Neufeld. Interment was made in the South Inman Cemetery.
