(MRS.) WILHELMINE WIENS

Wilhelmine Wiens was born at Ufa, Russia on January 16, 1899 to Julius and Bertha Thiel, nee Schaeler. In January 1918 she realized her need for salvation, accepte Christ as her personal Saviour and was baptized the same fall and accepted into the Mennonite Church at Ufa.

On October 14, 1918 she was united in marriage with Kornelius Wiens. For more than 57 years they shared joys and sorrows.

They left Russia in 1924, immigrating first to Mexico and in 1926 to Canada. They established their permanent home on a farm near Wembley, Alta. An operation she underwent and several car accidents they were involved in contributed greatly to their spiritual growth.

They retired to Clearbrook, B.C. in 1963 where they enjoyed many blessings, especially the fellowship with neighbours. In a close family circle they celebrated their golden anniversary in 1968.

Her health began to fail in 1971, but with God's grace she patiently bore her suffering. She greatly appreciated the Bible studies and programs in the Menno Home where she moved in 1972, and the visits she received.

On April 28, the Lord called her home to glory. She departed peacefully.

She leaves to mourn her beloved husband, Kornelius G. Wiens, three sons and three daughters: Kornelius and Tina of Greendale B.C., Gerhard and Erna of Vernon, B.C.: Henry and Darlene of Spirit River, Alta., Lena (Mrs. John) Sawatzky of Maidstone, Sask., Mary (Mrs. Abe) Konrad of Niverville, Man. and Margaret Wiens of Calgary. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren, one brother and two sisters in Russia, relatives and a host of friends.
