Hillsboro Woman Dies When Cars Collide

Hillsboro, Kan. — A two-car collision at an intersection of country roads northeast of here Sunday evening resulted in instant death for Mrs. David B. Wiens, 62, of Hillsboro, and injuries to three other persons.

It was reported that Mrs. Wiens was a passenger in a northbound car driven by her husband when it was struck by a westbound auto driven by Henry A. Foth, 54, also of Hillsboro. Mr. Wiens and a granddaughter, Christine Kasper, 7, were hospitalized, the latter being transferred later to a Wichita hospital. She suffered severe head injuries. Sandra Kasper, 5, and Teresa Plett, 7, a niece of the Wiens' from California, escaped injury. The Kasper sisters are daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Kasper.

Mrs. Foth was admitted to Salem Hospital here, while Mr. Foth and their four children escaped serious injury. Mrs. Wiens was the former Susie Hiebert, and a long-time resident here. She was a member of the Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church, where the funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday.
