MRS. MARY WIENS
(Mrs.) Mary (Mariechen) Wiens of Kitchener, Ont., went to be with the Lord on July 16. She was born to Johann and Lisa Schroeder, in 1896, at Hirschau, southern Russia. Soon after the death of her father, her family moved to Waldheim, also part of the Molotschna colony in Russia. She accepted the Lord as her Saviour and was baptized in August, 1914. On October 25, 1920, she married Kornelius Wiens, a school teacher. At the outbreak of World War II, her husband was sent to a slave labour camp, and was never heard of again. Under the sponsorship of her brother-in-law, Gerhard Wiens of Chicago, Mary was able to immigrate to Canada in the late 1940's. She made her home in Kitchener where she found relatives and many friends.
She was predeceased by her husband, Kornelius; her parents; one brother and three sisters. She is survived by a sister-in-law, Margaret Wiebe of St. Catharines, Ont.; one cousin, Susan Riediger of Kitchener, Ont.; nephews and nieces, and many friends. The funeral service was held in the Kitchener Mennonite Brethren Church, with J.F. Froese officiating.
