MRS. MARIA WIENS

Mrs. Maria Wiens, daughter of Abraham A. and Anna Wiens, was born March 7, 1887 near Inman, Kan. Her early days were spent in the Inman community where she also received her elementary education.

On Sept. 4, 1906 she was united in marriage to B. A. Wiens. To this union were born five sons and four daughters. Of these, three sons preceded her in death.

She is survived by her daughters, Hulda Mrs. George Neufeld) of Meade, Anna (Mrs. Sam Friesen) of Meade, Linda (Mrs. Ike Classen of Wichita and Lena (Mrs. Curt Classen) of Sterling; sons, Menno of Meade and Art of Larned; two daughters-in-law, Mrs. Anna Wiens Thiessen and Mrs. Viola Wiens; four sons-in-law, George Neufeld, Sam Friesen, Ike Classen and Rev. Curt Classen; 31 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; three brothers, A. W. Wiens and John W. Wiens of Inman and Kurt Wiens of Goessel, five sisters, Mrs. A. H. Ediger, Mrs. Agnes Mueller and Mrs. Henry Enns of Inman, Mrs. J. W. Ediger and Mrs. Gus Baergen of Hutchinson.

Mother accepted the Lord as her personal Saviour early in youth. She was baptized in 1905 by Rev. C. M. Wall and affiliated with the Ebenezer Mennonite Church. Later her membership was transferred to the E.M.B. Church at Meade.

Our mother was deeply devoted to her Lord, her family and stood faithfully by the side of her husband, who was a preacher of the Gospel for many years. Her husband and our father went to be with the Lord on March 24,1934.

Physically, her life was dotted with many disabilities and trials, but joy and inner victory always seasoned her testimony. She made her home with Hulda for about seven years. At this time her health began to fail and she entered a rest home. In February of this year she was brought to the Lone Tree Lodge at Meade. She suffered a number of strokes which toward the end of her days left her helpless as well as speechless. The Lord called her home on Nov. 3.

We share the blessed hope and know that we shall see our parents again in the Great Beyond. — The Children.
