MRS. LENA WIENS

Lena Wiens, daughter of Heinrich and Helena Pauls, was born Feb. 2, 1891 at Inman, Kan.

Her early life was spent on a farm near Inman. As a young girl she realized her need for salvation and accepted Christ as her Saviour. On June 2, 1909 she was baptized and became a member of the Hopeview Mennonite Church.

On Oct. 29, 1912 she was married to Jacob E. Wiens. Four years later they moved to Meade, Kan. Eight children were born to this union.

Her life will be remembered for her devotion and faithfulness to her family and to her church. She was a faithful companion to her husband and shared his concern for the spiritual life of their children, the church and the community. She expressed her love to her children and grandchildren with gifts of quilts and embroidery work. She was active in Sunday school and achieved ten years of perfect attendance in Ladies Mission Society.

In recent years as her eyesight began to fail she was unable to continue her activities, so she spent more time praying and quoting Scripture she had memorized.

She was admitted to the hospital on Jan. 27 for surgery. Twelve days later she died of a heart attack at the age of 84.

Dad and mother enjoyed 59 years of happy married life in times both good and bad. Dad went to be with the Lord on March 4, 1972.

Awaiting our reunion are the children, Frieda and John Isaac, Esther and Herman Harms, Agatha and George Isaac, Elmer and Elizabeth Wiens, Eldo and Esther Wiens, Helen and Clifford Friesen, Ervin and Mary Wiens, all of Meade, and Edwin and Adena Wiens of Valparaiso, Ind.; 30 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; her sister, Mrs. Lizzie Schmidt of Inman; Preceding her in death were six brothers, four sisters and two grandchildren, Steve and Julia Wiens.
