— Funeral services were held at the First Mennonite Church on Wednesday afternoon for Mrs. Clifford Wiens, 27, who was fatally injured early Sunday morning when the car she was driving struck a culvert on the First Street Road several miles east of Newton. The Wiens' three-year-old daughter, Cheryl Lynne, suffered fractures of an arm and leg and was in critical condition from shock and exposure as the accident was not discovered for more than an hour after it occurred. She remains a patient at the Bethel Deaconess hospital. Mrs. Wiens, the former Louise [sic Jean] Musser, is survived by her husband and daughter; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Russell G. Musser of Newton; two sisters and five brothers.

MRS. JEAN (MUSSER) WIENS

Mrs. Jean Musser Wiens, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Russell G. Musser, was born in Newton, Kansas on Jan. 8, 1929, and departed this life on Sept. 30, 1956 at the age of 27 years, eight months and 22 days.

She grew to womanhood in Newton, where she also attended public school as well as Sunday school. At an early age she was baptized and later confirmed and received into the membership of the Lutheran Church.

On June 22, 1948, she was united in marriage to Clifford H. Wiens. This home was blessed by the birth o, f one daughter, Cheryl Lynne, who will greatly miss the companionship of her mother.

She possessed a quiet, unassuming, but cheerful and happy disposition and was loved by all who knew her. Her friends and relatives always found a warm welcome in her home. She had a deep concern about the spiritual well-being of herself and her family and was very faithful in taking her daughter to Sunday school. At the time of her death she was a member of the Christian Home Makers Sunday school class of the First Mennonite Church, where only a few weeks earlier she gave expression to her new-found joy in Christ.

Survivors, in addition to her husband and daughter, include her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Russell G. Musser of Newton; two sisters, Mrs. Odis Demaine of Wichita and Mrs. Charls [sic Charles] Hall of McPherson; five brothers, Wayne Musser of Lawndale, Calif., and Frank, Marvin, Alvin and Lloyd Musser, all of Newton.
