HENRY A. WIENS
Henry A. Wiens of Clearbrook, B.C. passed away Oct. 10 of cancer. He was born Jan. 24, 1922 to Abram and Anna Wiens in Tiege, Zagradovka, southern Russia. In 1925 they immigrated to Canada. After 2 years in New Hamburg, Ont., they settled on a farm at Chortitz, Man. He accepted Christ at age 14, was baptized at 18 and joined Steinbach (Man.) MB Church. As a conscientious objector, he worked on several farms in B.C.'s Fraser Valley during World War II. On Aug. 14, 1946 he married Mary Klassen in Blumenort, Sask. After working at the TB sanitorium in Tranquille, B.C. for a year, they settled on a small farm at Arnold, B.C. He held full-time jobs while growing berries and building up a dairy operation. Eventually they moved to a large farm near Abbotsford, B.C. They sold the farm and moved to Clearbrook, where he worked as a real estate agent for 16 years. He loved the church and was deeply committed to serving the Lord wherever there was need. At Arnold MB Church, he was Sunday school teacher and superintendent, church secretary and a choir member. At Central Heights MB Church in Abbotsford he served as deacon and elder. Predeceased by his father in 1965, 1 grandson and 1 brother, he is mourned by his wife; his mother in Abbotsford; children Dorothy Willms of Fort St. John, B.C., Stan of Maple Ridge, B.C., Linda Barg of Vernon, B.C., Carolyn Siebert of Toronto and Idella Melsom of Abbotsford; 10 grandchildren; 1 brother and 2 sister s. The funeral was in Central Heights MB Church, with Al McVety and N.J. Dyck ministering.
