● Cleo J. (Carithers) Wiens, 76, of Grand Junction, Colo., a member of Bethel College Mennonite Church, North Newton, died Dec. 10 at St. Mary’s Hospital and Medical Center; Grand Junction. Funeral services were held Dec. 14 at Callaham-Edfast Chapel, Grand Junction, with Rene Calderon officiating. Funeral services also were held Dec. 17 at Petersen’s Funeral Home, Newton. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery, Newton. She was a homemaker. A native of Pretty Prairie and Newton until 1946, when she moved to Cairo, Egypt. In 1951 she moved to Brazil and in 1972 to Grand Junction. Survivors include one son, R. Harlon of Kailua, Hawaii; two daughters, Karolyn Addington of Santa Maria, Calif., and Shannon Cruse of Grand Junction; two brothers, Guy Carithers of Westminster, Calif., and Calvin Carithers Jr. of Hutchinson; four sister, Ellen Wiard of Pretty Prairie, Leota Meng of Wichita, Lillian Lintecum of Mayfield and Norma Black of Pittsburg, Mo.; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Her husband, Rudolph Peter, died in 1972.
