MRS. ANNA WIENS
Anna Schmidt Wiens of Hillsboro, Kan. was born on May 16, 1891 to Fred and Christina (Schnark) Schmidt. She attended the Cresswell School which constituted her formal schooling.
She was saved and was baptized into the Gnadenau Church near Hillsboro in 1907 by Rev. Wiebe. She was a member of this church for many years. For some years past she and her husband have been at home in the Spring Valley Church near Canton, Kan. The loved to worship the Lord with fellow believers when their strength permitted.
On March 30, 1913, mother joined hands in matrimony with Henry L. Wiens, and they shared 57 years, eight months and 24 days together. In March 1938, they celebrated their silver anniversary and in 963 their 50th anniversary. She enjoyed these times of family togetherness.
Mother loved to sing and taught us many hymns. This was her way of worshiping her Lord. She always found time to help others wherever she saw a need.
Grandmother, as she was known to many besides her own grandchildren, will be greatly missed. Her consistent Christian life has encouraged us all.
Mother was in failing health but still kept up her work the best she could.
On Nov. 24, 1970, while on the way to Abilene, Kan. Elmer Wiens and his parents had a tragic accident. Mother did not survive. She went to her Lord about whom she loved to sing. She reached the age of 79 years, six months, and eight days.
She leaves to mourn her husband Henry L. Wiens; one son, Elmer and wife Susann of Hillsboro; one daughter, Evelyn and husband Arthur J. Thiessen of Colony, Okla.; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild; four sisters, Lena, Mrs. John Wohlgemuth of Peabody, Kan., Mary, Mrs. Frank Wohlgemuth of Towanda, Kan., Lizzie, Mrs. Corniel [sic Cornelius] Wohlgemuth of Newton, and Martha, Mrs. Dick Gossen [sic Goossen] of Reedley, Calif.; two brothers, Fred of Newton, Kan. and Dan of Hillsboro, and a host of relatives and friends. — Henry L.
