Mrs. Selma Wiebe, daughter of Andreas and Kathrina Wiens Flaming, was born on Feb. 3, 1891, on a farm near Hillsboro, Kan. She attended schools in Lehigh and Hillsboro, after moving with her parents to Oklahoma, attended Corn Bible School and Academy. It was during this time that she claimed Christ as Savior and Lord and was baptized and received into the KMB Church at Weatherford, Okla.

She attended Southwestern State Teachers College in Weatherford, and taught school in the Bessie community for three years. Upon the family's moving back to Hillsboro she united with the Hillsboro M. B. church. She attended Tabor College, and was employed for a number of years at Beck's Store in Hillsboro.

On Aug. 29, 1915, she was married to Jacob D. Wiebe at Hillsboro. In addition to being a devoted wife and mother, she found great joy in serving people and the church. The deacon ministry, into which she and her husband were ordained on April 14, 1940, was entered into wholeheartedly and she found great joy as well as in the work of the missionary circles, Relief Society, teaching Sunday school, and the church choir.

She was hospitalized about three and a half months ago, and submitted to surgery from which she recovered sufficiently to be moved to Salem Hospital at Hillsboro. However, she grew gradually weaker and passed away there Sept 10, 1974. She reached the age of 83.

We shall remember her as one who quietly did her tasks aware that the simplest acts were a part of he ministry to Christ.

Preceding her in death were six sisters and two brothers. Surviving are one daughter Esther, Mrs. Franklin Harms, and husband, and one son Harold and wife Carol, all of Hillsboro, and six grandchildren. &#8212; The Family.
