— Word was received here last week of the death of George G. Wiebe, 64, at Napa, Calif. a native of this community and a former member of the First Mennonite church here, he and his family moved to Napa in 1940. He died Dec. 9, and funeral services were to be held at Napa on Monday. Surviving are his widow, one son and one daughter, three sisters, Mrs. P. B. Zielke and Mrs. A. J. Harms of Newton, and Mrs. J. D. Toews of Aberdeen, Idaho; and three brothers, John P. and David D. of Newton, and Henry P. of Inglewood, Calif.

George G. Wiebe, son of the late John G. and Evelyn Schmidt Wiebe, was born April 18, 1895 on a farm near Newton, Kan., and died Dec. 9, 1959 at Napa, Calif. at the age of 64 years, seven months and 22 days.

In early childhood he moved with his parents to Coy, Okla. where he attended school and church and where he grew to manhood. On Aug. 2, 1917 he was baptized upon confession of faith by Elder H. R. Voth and received into the Bethanian Mennonite church. In 1919 the family moved to Newton, Kan. where he united with the First Mennonite church.

On April 18, 1924 he was united in marriage to Anna Unruh. Two children were born to this union.

In 1940 he and his family moved to Napa, Calif. where he was employed in the Vallejo shipyards for 18 years. In the absence of a Mennonite church he united with the Baptist church, of which he was a faithful and active member and where funeral services were held Dec. 14, 1959.

Surviving are his widow; one daughter, Mrs. Thomas (Geraldine) Hefner of Napa; one son, Melvin of Los Angeles; four grandchildren; three brothers, David D. and John P. of Newton, and Henry P. of Inglewood, Calif.; and three sisters, Mrs. P. B. Zielke and Mrs. A. J. Harms of Newton, and Mrs. J. D. Toews of Aberdeen, idaho.
