ABRAHAM JOHN WIEBE

Abram John Wiebe was born in Orloff, Sagradowka on January 27, 1889. His parents were John and Katharina (nee Friesen) Wiebe. At the age of 14 he lost his mother.

The Spirit of God convicted him of his need of a Saviour and he accepted Christ at the age of 21.

On June 32,1912 he married Anna Stobbe. This union lasted 63 years until death parted them on May 22, 1975.

The Wiebe family emigrated from Russia to Canada in 1925. They farmed in Manitoba for 18 years. In 1944 God led them to Yarrow, B.C. The following year he became a member of the Yarrow Mennonite Brethren church through baptism. The fellowship in the church was very precious to him. He appreciated the Sunday school class in a special way. He also enjoyed the music and singing and showed great interest in church growth and the private school.

In 1972 the Wiebes celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary.

He enjoyed good health until 1969. During the last three years he was an invalid and patience and gratitude were exemplary to his family and friends. He had entered notes and underscored many passages in his Bible which indicated his attitude toward others.

The Lord called him home on May 22 age 86.

He was predeceased by seven brothers, two daughters and two sons in their infancy. He leaves to mourn his wife Anna; five daughters, Katherine, Martha, Annie, Erma, Mary and husband John Unger; one son John Friesen and wife Maria; six grandchidren; five great-grandchildren; one sister Maria, believed to be living in Russia; and many relatives and friends.

The funeral was held from the Yarrow Church on May 27, with Rev. A. L. Klassen officiating.
