• Miss Martha G. Wiebe, 62, died early Thursday, Feb. 24, at Presbyterian Manor after a long illness. She was a member of the Bethel College Church, where the funeral was conducted Saturday by Rev. Esko Loewen and Rev. John Esau. A native of Elmdale, Okla., Miss Wiebe was employed as a secretary under various government agencies for more than 30 years. She lived in Washington, D. C. for some years, moving to Wichita in 1946 and to Newton about 18 months ago. Surviving are two sisters, Pauline J. Wiebe of Newton and Anna S. Wiebe of Medford, Okla.

MARTHA GRACE WIEBE

Martha Grace Wiebe, daughter of Frank W. and Susanna Wiebe, was born on Oct. 25, 1909 at Elmwood, Okla., and died on Feb. 24, 1972, at the Presbyterian Manor in Newton, Kan.

As a child she moved with her family to Medford, Okla. where she attended grade and high school. She later attended and was on the staff of Bethel College, North Newton.

In her youth she was baptized and became a member of the Mennonite Church at Medford, Okla. She later transferred her membership to the First Presbyterian Church of Wichita, Kan., and after moving to Newton transferred her membership to the Bethel College Mennonite Church.

In 1940 she moved to Washington, D. C. where she was employed by the Department of the Navy. Her government service was continued with the War Department (Army Air Forces) in Cincinnati, Ohio and Salina, Kan, and the United States Department of Labor (Apprentice Training Service) in Topeka and Wichita, Kan. where she remained until her disability retirement in October of 1970. After her retirement she resided with her sister in Newton, until she was hospitalized and later transferred to Presbyterian Manor.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Huldah J. Wiebe, and a half sister, Marie Wiebe. She is survived by two sisters, Pauline J. Wiebe of Newton and Anna S. Wiebe of Medford.

Because of her patience in the midst of much suffering and genuine concern for the welfare of others, we felt that she had a warm relationship with her Lord and was deeply conscious of her dependence upon Him. She gave encouragement and inspiration to relatives and friends when she herself was in need of encouragement and spiritual strength. She kept her sense of humor and continued her pleasant smile until her passing.

Funeral Services were held in the Bethel College Mennonite Church on Feb. 26 with Rev. Esko Loewen and Rev. John Esau officiating. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery, Newton.
