— Word has been received that Jacob P. Wiebe, 54, who had farmed in the Conway community since 1954, died Monday afternoon at the Kansas University Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan. He was a member of the Zion Mennonite Church near Inman, where the funeral services will be conducted Thursday morning by Rev. Dennis Unruh and Rev. Abe Toews.

JACOB P. WIEBE

Jacob P. Wiebe, son of Isaak and Margaretha Penner Wiebe was born Nov. 13, 1906, near Hillsboro, Kansas and departed this life in the Kansas University Medical Center, Kansas City, Kan. on July 10, 1961, attaining the age of 54 years, seven months and 27 days.

Father spent his boyhood years near Hillsboro, Kansas, where he received his education. God sought him in his youth,he was converted, found forgiveness of his sins and peace with God and was baptized upon confession of his faith on March 15, 1923, by Min. F. C. Frickle. He became a member of the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, continuing faithful till the end.

On May 19, 1935, he was united in marriage to Mary Friesen, and they shared the joys and sorrows of life for more than 26 years. This union was blessed with three sons. The first ten years they resided at Hillsboro. During the winter of 1943 they moved to a farm near Conway, Kansas where they resided at the time of his death.

Father enjoyed good health, happily providing for his family. He was of a cheerful disposition, making many friends. He also took active interest in the work of the church, offering his help unselfishly.

On March 19 of this year father became ill and his illness became progressively more serious, so that medical counsel and help was sought with much prayer, yet without relief. Friday, June 30, he was admitted to the Medical Center in Kansas City, where he submitted to surgery from which he never regained consciousness. Death was caused from a brain tumor.

Father realized the seriousness of his condition and earnestly, with much prayer, set his house in order, committing himself to God's determined will for him. He expressed his readiness to leave this earthly life, and we believe that he is at rest with his Lord.

He leaves to mourn his departure, his wife Mary; three sons, Maynard of Ithaca, Mich., Virgal and Loren of the home; our parents, Mr. and Mrs. I. K. Friesen; two brothers, four sisters, many relatives and friends.

His parents, one brother and one sister preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held the forenoon of July 13. Min. Abe R. Toews spoke at the home, followed by largely attended services at the Zion Menonite church. Min. John A. Ensz made opening remarks based on Gen. 3:19, after which Min. Dennis Unruh spoke on Job. 14:5. Burial was made in the nearby cemetery. — The Family.
