Moundridge, Kan. — Double funeral services were scheduled this week at Beatrice, Neb. and Moundridge for two Bethel College students who died in a highway crash less than 24 hours after their marriage in the Eden Mennonite Church near here.
Beverly Ann Goering, 20, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Orlin W. Goering of Moundridge, and Frank W. Wiebe, 21, son of Mr. and Mrs. John K. Wiebe of Beatrice, were married Friday evening, June 20, at the Eden Mennonite Church near Moundridge in the presence of their many relatives and friends.
On Saturday afternoon they were traveling near Chivington, Colo. on their wedding trip when heavy equipment being carried on an oncoming truck clipped a bridge and then fell into the path of their car. Both died instantly.
Double services were held Wednesday afternoon at the First Mennonite Church of Beatrice. The bodies will then be returned to Kansas for final services and burial Thursday afternoon at the Eden Church. Dr. H. A. Fast and Rev. Wendell Rempel, who officiated at the couple's wedding, also will conduct the funeral services here.
The young couple had planned to reside in North Newton, where both would have been seniors at Bethel College.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Wiebe leaves three sisters, Mrs. Randy Goering of Tulsa, Okla., Mrs. Byron Ediger of Goshen, Ind., and Mrs. Wayne Niehage of Holt, Mich., and her grandmother, Mrs. C. J. Goering of Moundridge.
Mr. Wiebe is survived by his parents; a brother, Van, of the home; and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. William Thimm of Beatrice.
