BERNARD B. WIEBE
Bernhard B. Wiebe of Plum Coulee, Man. passed away on December 31, as the result of a heart attack. He was born on December 26,1902 to Bernhard and Margarietta Wiebe in the Plum Coulee area, one of 12 children. At the age of 11 he had an experience with God, and had the assurance of sins forgiven. On July 26, 1927 he married Katherine Kehler, and settled on a farm near Horndean, Man. He and his wife became concerned about their personal relationships to God, and on February 23, 1930 they both commit ted themselves to God anew. They were baptized in June of the same year and joined the Grossweide Mennonite Brethren Church. Later the family moved to Rosefarm School District, and farmed there for 15 years. In 1953 they moved back to the original homestead near Horndean. In 1968 Mr. Wiebe retired to the town of Plum Coulee. He suffered a severe heart attack in 1970, but the family was able to continue to enjoy him for more than eight years.
He has left to mourn his wife Tina, John and Marilyn of Altona, Man., Arthur and Anne of Steinbach, Man., Peter and Lorraine of Winnipeg, Esther and Frank Kasunich of Calgary, and David and Vivian of Regina, 16 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, three brothers, two sisters, and many other relatives and friends. At the funeral service in the Bergthaler Mennonite Church in Plum Coulee on January 3, Rev. J.J. Neufeld and Mr. Jake G. Neufeld spoke, and the four sons sang two songs as a quartet.
