Gailen Ward Wichert of Adams, Okla., son of Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Wichert, was born on Dec. 30, 1949. He died while being rushed by ambulance to the Southwest Medical Center in Liberal, Kan. after the car he was driving home was struck by a car at the intersection about one-half mile north of Adams. He died at the age of 17 years, two months and three days.

Gailen received his education at the Adams Grade and High School and was in his junior high school year. He will long be remembered both by the students and faculty of the school but especially by the members of the high school team with whom he played.

One night when Gailen was seven years old, he stalled going to bed. When his mother asked why, he replied, "I want to get saved. I've wanted to get saved for a long time." His mother showed him John 3:16. He knelt down, asked God for forgiveness of his sins, and in childlike faith, received Jesus Christ as his personal Saviour. He went to bed radiantly happy. A little over five years ago, he was baptized and became a member of the Gospel of Grace Church in Hooker, Okla.

He leaves to mourn his parents, sisters Eloise, 16, and Shari, 10; his grandparents on both his father's and mother's sides, and many relatives and friends.
