Death, Injury Stalk Highways and Farms in Eastern States

Accidents on highways and farms have claimed an unusually large number of dead and injured in Mennonite and Amish settlements of the eastern U. S., according to reports reaching the Review.

A three-car crash on foggy Route 76 near Holmesville, Ohio claimed the life of Mrs. Martha Hostetler, who died after being admitted to a Canton, O. hospital. She was a passenger in a car driven by her son, Dean Hostetler.

Near Atlantic, Pa., three-year-old John Wengerd was fatally injured when struck by a car as he crossed the read [sic] near his home. He was the son of Enos and Mattie Wengerd, the family having recently moved there from Baltic, Ohio.

A near head-on collision at Virginia Beach, Va. claimed the life of Mrs. Vivian Moser and seriously injured her two daughters. Also hospitalized with serious injuries were Mrs. Andrew Hershberger, drive of the other car, and daughter Joanne.

Near Fredericksburg, Ohio, Jacob J. Shetler fell 14 feet from the roof of a shed onto cement, fracturing both arms and one kneecap. John E. Hostetler of the Amish settlement near Ashland, Ohio was kicked by a horse, opening a hole in an intestine.
