SARAH CHRISTINA WENGER

Sarah Christina Wenger, better known as Sadie C. Wenger, was born near Versailles, Missouri, on January 28, 1881, the daughter of the late Michael and Rosina Welty Wenger and passed away at the Schiltz Memorial hospital, American Falls, Idaho, on February 14, 1948, having attained the age of 67 years and 17 days.

Death resulted from a stroke suffered on January 4, 1948. At the beginning of February she seemed to be making progress towards recovery until her illness took a turn for the worse on February 8.

At the age of 17 she moved with her parents from Missouri to Newton, Kansas, where she attended Bethel College. In 1909 the family moved to Aberdeen, which had been her home since that time.

In 1900 she was baptized by Rev. David Goerz at Newton, Kansas, and became a member of the Mennonite Church, in which fellowship she was a faithful member at the time of her death. She had a friendly spirit and was always willing to help and render service wherever needed. She faithfully cared for her parents when they became aged and infirm until their passing in 1943 and 1945.

She leaves to mourn her death three brothers: Ira J. and Frank L. Wenger of Aberdeen, Idaho, and Rev. Paul A. Wenger of Korba, C. P., India, and their families. She was greatly beloved by her seven nephews and nieces.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the First Mennonite church of Aberdeen. Rev. H. N. Harder was the officiating minister with Rev. E. E. Toevs assisting.

A quartet, Mrs. Edward Moser. Mrs. H. N. Harder, Herbert Hege, and Randolph Moser, sang two numbers, "Unto the Hills" and "Abide With Me."

Pall bearers were Edwin Becker, Maurice Wedel, Herbert Bartel, Milton Bartel, Dan Wenger, and Elbert Gossen. Interment was made in Homestead cemetery.
