Aged Man Fatally Injured En Route to Evangelistic Services

Funeral services were held Nov. 7 at the Union Center Church of the Brethren for John W. Welty, 77, who was struck by a car and fatally injured while crossing Nappanee's Main street to attend evangelistic services at the North Main Street Mennonite church Nov. 4

He was a member of the North Main Street church, and final services were in charge of his pastor, Rev. Homer North.

Welty was accompanied by his step-daughter, Elizabeth Anglemyer, who was en route to services at another church. She was not injured. Mr. Welty died the same evening at Elkhart General Hospital.
