In the afternoon of the same day funeral services were held at the Dan P. Borntrager residence for Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Weirich, 66 and 64-year-old Shipshewana couple also killed in the New Mexico crash. The Weirich services were in charge of Rev. Levi Yoder, Rev. Eli D. Miller and Bishop John Troyer.
Fifth victim in the two-car collision was Julian Dominguez, 20, of Carlsbad.
The Chupps and Weirichs were on a three-week trip to visit relatives and friends in Texas, California and Oregon. Exact cause of the head-on crash July 15, under good driving conditions during a sunny afternoon, has not been determined. Investigating officers said both cars were over the center line of the highway at the point of impact.
The Chupps are survived by 11 children and step-children and the Weirichs by nine children.

DANIEL E. WEIRICH
ELIZABETH J. WEIRICH
Daniel E. Wierich, son of Eli D. and Elizabeth (Nissley) Weirich, was born July 4, 1896 at Mylo, N. D. and moved to Indiana with his parents in 1901.
Elizabeth J. Weirich, daughter of Joseph D. and Catherine (Shrock) Kauffman, was born July 23, 1898 and lived in the Shipshewana, Ind. community all her life.
They were united in marriage April 22, 1918 by Bishop Eli J. Bontrager. To this union were born nine children: Harry, Harley, Ida (Mrs. Harry Miller), Nona (Mrs. Clyde Yoder), all of Middlebury, Ind.; Eli of Augusta, Wis., Joe, Katie, Anna (Mrs. Eli Chupp), all of Shipshewana, and Ora of Topeka, Ind.
Mr. and Mrs. Weirich were instantly killed in a two-car accident near Carlsbad, N. M. on July 15. Both accepted Christ as their Savior in their youth and were united with the Old Order Amish church.
Surviving in addition to the children are 30 grandchildren, ten brothers and sisters, Levi Weirich of Goshen, Joni and Sam of Middlebury, Mrs. David Kauffman of Shipshewana, Mrs. Henry Hostetler of Middlebury, Sam Kauffman, Etna Green, David Kauffman and Mrs. Harvey Glick, all of Shipshewana, and Edward Kauffman of Middlebury. Two grandchildren, Donald Yoder and Viola Weirich, preseded [sic] them in death.
There was no witness to the accident, but the 19-year-old who was driving the other car involved had been seen drinking earlier in the day and was seen driving at reckless speeds.
We ask that Gos's people everywhere would remember us in prayer, so that we may live humble and submissive lives, and join us in witnessing against strong drink and evil that is so prevalent. — The Children.
