Oklahoma Pioneer is Called By Death While Asleep.

According to a report from the Geary, Oklahoma, Star, dated April 16, funeral services for Fritz Wehmuller [sic Wehmueller], 87 year old El Reno pioneer will be held at the Mennonite church north of El Reno Friday afternoon.

Mr. Wehmueller passed away peacefully in his sleep some time during the early hours Wednesday morning at the Deitrick Leck home east of Geary where he has made his home for the last four years. His death was discovered when the family arose at 6 a. m.

He was born in Germany, coming to America when he was seven years old, where he settled in Missouri with his parents. He came to El Reno in 1900.

He is survived by a son O. C. Wehmuller [sic Wehmueller], El Reno, two grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Fritz Wehmueller

Fritz Wehbueller was born Dec. 24, 1848, as the youngest child of William and Katherine Wehmueller in West Phalia [sic Westphalia], Prussia. He came to this country with his parents when still a small boy.

They settled near St. Louis, Missouri, as pioneers. Here he also found his life's helpmate in Auguste Seger. They were married Oct. 3, 1872, and this union was blessed with 4 children, Caroline, Ida, Otto and Theodor. Three of these preceded him to the beyond: Caroline, 6 days old; Theodor, 2 years old; and Ida at the age of 21 years. His wife was called from his side on July 19, 1926, at the age of 74 years. They had been permitted to live together for nearly 54 years.

Their early life was spent in pioneering in Missouri. Then in August 1901 they moved to Oklahoma where the hardships of starting over again were endured. So their life was full of various experiences. but in all their life they looked for guidance and help from above. Early they had united with the Methodist church. After moving they fellowshipped with the Mennonite church and later transformed their membership to that place.

Mr. Wehmueller's last 10 years — after his life's partner of nearly 54 years was called from his side — were rather lonely. This was intensified by poor health. Since fall he has been failing. lately he had an attack of the flue, but had overcome this. Then the end came quietly, at the age of 88 years, 3 months and 22 days, on April 15 at 3 A. M when he slumbered over into the beyond.

He leaves to mourn his departure 1 son and 1 daughter-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Otto Wehmueller; 2 grandchildren, Mrs. Wilma Stine and Oscar Wehmueller; 1 great-grandchild, Alta Marie Stein [sic Stine]; nephews and nieces and a host of friends.
