EVA (UNRUH) WEDEL

Eva (Unruh) Wedel, daughter of Peter J. and Elizabeth (Becker) Unruh, was born Oct. 23, 1911, near Canton, Kan., and departed from this life on Feb. 27, 1964. She attained the age of 52 years, four months and four days.

Her youth was spent on a farm near Canton. She was the eldest of two girls when her mother was called by death. Thus the second marriage of her father added two step-brothers, and later two sisters and one brother to the family.

Early in life she realized her lost condition, whereupon she accepted Christ as her personal Savior and experienced forgiveness of sins. On March 5, 1927, she was baptized and added to the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, of which she remained a faithful member.

She was united in marriage to Alpha Wedel on March 30, 1934 with whom she shared joys and sorrows for nearly 30 years. This union was blessed with two sons and four daughters. These years were spent on a farm near Galva.

Her sudden illness last October was a sad experience for us. She improved sufficiently so that we were able to take her home again. The few months that she spent at home were a real blessing to all of us and especially to her, for she seemed to enjoy the richness of life which had too often been taken for granted. It was with great reluctance and disappointment, to her and to us, to accept the fact that she was growing weaker; which made it necessary for her to return to Mercy Hospital, Moundridge, Kan., where she remained until she departed for the better life.

She leaves to mourn her departure, her deeply bereaved husband, two sons and four daughters, Virginia and husband Donald Koehn of Halstead; Darold and wife Geneva of Newton; Norma, Betty, Dorothy and Eldon of the home; three sisters and three brothers; Marie of Galva; Floyd, Erwin and Elsie of Canton; Esther of Tribune, and Willard of Denver, Colo. her mother-in-law, Mrs. Susie Wedel of Galva; and many other relatives and friends.

Her father, mother, stepmother and one sister preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, March 1, 1964, at Lone Tree Mennonite Church near Moundridge, Kan. The service was conducted by Rev. A. R. Wiggers. Interment was at the Lone Tree Mennonite Cemetery. — The Family.
